At Academy Avenue, we prioritize academic excellence through data-driven instruction and a commitment to meeting the unique needs of every learner. This school year, our focus areas include:

• Using current data to inform and enhance Tier 1 and Tier 2 instruction

• Strengthening writing skills with an emphasis on stamina and structure

• Utilizing additional high-quality materials in math instruction

• Integrating effective math tools and strategies

Our curriculum is designed to challenge students and foster critical thinking skills:

• Our literacy instruction is based on the Wit and Wisdom and Fundations ELA curricula, which were introduced in the 2023-2024 school year. Both engage our students in reading, writing, and critical thinking.
• Math instruction is rooted in the Big Ideas curriculum, which encourages students to explore mathematical concepts deeply and develop problem-solving skills.
• Our science instruction is enriched by the fun and interactive Generation Genius curriculum, which brings science to life through engaging videos and hands-on activities.
• We integrate social-emotional learning (SEL) into our daily routines using the Second Step and PeaceBuilders SEL curricula. These programs equip students with the skills to manage emotions, build healthy relationships, and make responsible decisions, laying the groundwork for lifelong success.
• Academy is proud to be a PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) school, where we emphasize positive behavior and a supportive learning environment. Our PBIS framework helps us cultivate a school culture that encourages respect, responsibility, and safety, reinforcing positive behaviors through recognition and rewards.
